Why We Are Certified Organic

At Black Teal Bay, we have always sought to follow organic practices and we are proud to now be certified (BioGro 6380) - both as an organic farm and as a wellness product manufacturer.

We believe that by being organic we can both help the planet and give our customers the assurance that we are truly organic growers and makers of pure wellness products.

We are organic because our goal is to take a more holistic long-term sustainable approach to our land that improves the health and fertility of our topsoil (including cycling nutrients), increases biodiversity (particularly insects and native birds) and improves the water cycle in order for us to produce clean and pure products. We also want our customers who purchase and use our Black Teal Bay wellness products to be sure that they are using real organic products containing only certified organic ingredients.

We are audited and certified by BioGro which is New Zealand’s most credible organic certifier (established in 1983). BioGro wrote NZ’s first organic standards and certifies more than 950 producers, farmers and manufacturers.  BioGro is owned by the New Zealand Soil & Health Association which was established in 1941, making it one of the oldest organic organisations in the world.

Our organic certification with BioGro allows traceability of every certified product and we believe a true systematic organic approach is the way forward for both our health and that of the planet. We are proud to be a BioGro certified organic primary product and manufacturer licensee as we look to a more sustainable future.
